Hopkins Creek 2008 Distance Rides

Who We Are

We are the Byard family and have been enjoying Arabian horses for many years and distance riding for a few years. We are managing the Hopkins Creek ride for 2008. We are members of the Great Lakes Distance Riding Association http://www.gldra.org/ and the American Endurance Ride Conference http://www.aerc.org/ and recommend both as great places to learn about the sport of Distance Riding and to meet people who enjoy the sport, the horses and each other.

We have a lot of fun learning about endurance together. We have had the pleasure of seeing people from 5 to 85 engaging in and enjoying this sport. Endurance and Competitive riding can be done at a pace that you choose that fits you and your horse. For us, it is a great family sport and we highly recommend it as a family activity. What could be better than family camping, riding fabulous horses (sometimes FAST) , traveling together, playing together, serving others and enjoying the company of a diverse group of friends and pets for several weekends each year? Young people and horses go really great together. They both grow and benefit from their experiences with each other.

Seeing the beauty of creation from the back of a horse in areas that many people never see is an experience that benefits body, mind and spirit - and it can be a blast! If anyone out there is interested in learning what endurance riding is all about and how it can be good for a family, we would be happy to share our experiences with you. We invite you to come to the Hopkins Creek Endurance and Competetive Trail Rides near Manton Michigan on June 28 and 29, 2008.
